about us...
In September of 2006 Photographic Splendor was formally registered as a limited liability company (LLC) to provide a marketable framework for its founder and his associates to apply their creative talent and professional skills towards the art of taking and presenting photographs. While almost everyone has a camera and knows how to "take pictures," very few ever figure out how to easily and efficiently share the "better" ones. Most camera owners thus stockpile dozens, hundreds, and even thousands of pictures (prints, slides, negatives, and/or digital files) in hopes of one day coming across a practical way of presenting their work. Photographic Splendor´s founder, Jim Garvin, found such a method. For over twenty years, Jim has taken thousands of pictures, labeled the prints, and catalogued the associated negatives and slides - building an inventory in anticipation of future use. In late 2002, he acquired a top of the line negative/slide scanner (Nikon CoolScan IV). This provided the way, without compromising quality, to digitize negatives and slides from his growing inventory of pictures. Then, in the spring of 2003, with the kind urging of his wife, Ann, Jim moved into digital photography and has since been able to "computerize" his pictures almost instantly. In late 2004, Jim was introduced to a powerful software package that was the answer to his long time dream. At last there was a way to use not only his extensive collection of pictures but any others as well to produce audio/visual shows for viewing on anyone´s home or business TV/DVD system. Jim Garvin was born in Atlanta, Georgia, attended high school in Ocala, FL, has a BSEE from Georgia Tech, and is an ordained minister. He and his wife, Ann, have seven children (and eighteen grandchildren) and live in Alpharetta, Georgia. |
